    A massive earthquake that shook China today has claimed 8,500 lives and the number of dead continues to rise. The earthquake that measured 7.8 on the Richter scale rocked the country’s Sichuan Province, claiming up to 7,500 lives, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

    Upon seeing her handmade prom dress, school officials gave Houston teen Marche Taylor a choice—go home or go to jail. She chose jail. According to Houston news station KHOU-TV, Taylor arrived at the prom in a skimpy gold top and mini skirt only to be told by a chaperone she would not be allowed inside because she was showing way too much skin.

    Wachowski Bros’ ‘Speed Racer’ Tanks at U.S. Box Office
    Despite being one of the highest budgeted pictures of the summer, the Wachowski Brothers’ latest directorial effort, Speed Racer, tanked at the U.S. box office, bringing in less than $20 million opening weekend. Andy and Larry Wachowski are responsible for some of the most provocative films of the last decade, beginning with their debut film Bound, which made lesbian icons out of stars Jennifer Tilly and Gina Gershon.
